Last year the Ouse and Adur Rivers Trust and a wide range of local organisations got together to put on a Water Fair in Steyning. The event was held in the community centre and included talks from national and local groups and experts around the water environment, and stalls promoting ways to improve water management. It also included a wide scale survey of local residents via a questionnaire around water usage, quality and flood resilience. The results of this questionnaire were extremely illuminating and will be used to help guide local direction and ensure that local people are supported and educated to help maintain a sustainable water environment in the future.
We have joined forces with the Ouse and Adur Rivers Trust to put on a similar event in Lewes which will take place at the Linklater Pavilion on Saturday 7th of March between 10am and 4pm. There will be a range of talks during the day including presentations from local Lewes project Chalking Up the Benefits; rain garden and green roof expert Dusty Gedge; Natural Flood Management; and ways to manage land for water and soil protection. We will also have a free café with donations going to a local group. Have a look at our flyer here for more information.
We have already sent out over 2500 questionnaires to local properties. Perhaps you got one through your door? There are boxes to return these at the library and Linklater pavilion. You can also fill out an online version of the questionnaire here - all respondents will be put into a prize draw too. This link we be available for a few weeks so you still have time!
